Local Wood, Timeless Furniture

We're just getting off the ground. In 2025 we established the lumber mill, set up the workshop, developed some designs, and as the year ended, our very first pieces were coming out of the workshop. We are aiming to have displays ready to show at Celebration Farms (Fall City) and Jubilee Farm (Carnation) in spring 2026.

About Commons Woodworking

Our Mission

To redirect otherwise wasted wood from our communities, at scale, into beautiful furniture built to last generations.

Our goal is to make hardwood furniture that is accessible, at a price that creates a viable alternative to mass produced furniture using engineered materials.

We will not be another high-priced custom brand. Repurposing local wood at scale requires a focus on quality and efficient production.

Milling

Controlling the milling process lets us bring out the true character of every tree—its figure, its flaws, and the story it carries into the furniture they become.

Design

We create elegant and bold designs that highlight the unique character of the trees they came from.

Wood with a Story

Under our makers mark, all of our large furniture pieces are inscribed with the coordinates of the tree the wood came from.

The coordinates also service as a unique ID. In future versions of this website, we plan to allow customers to enter their ID and get the full details of their tree.

Since many of our trees come from private homes, the ID includes three decimal places - making only accurate to within a quarter mile to respect property owners.
